Fantastic 65 minutes of static at that.

65daysofstatic have been tirelessly touring the world since what feels like 2005, and only barely touched the nordic region a fingerful times, which made it get my swift rigorous attention when it was announced that this time they would indeed play Copenhagen. Which is somewhat in the proximity of my willingness of going to live concerts.

Worth mentioning is maybe also that Last.fm has tracked a somewhat embarrassing 8,754 plays  (at the time of writing) of my plays of 65. The dark partying ages of 2006-2007.

Tuesday around 6 I was sitting at work, minding my own business when the Tweetie icon suddenly turned blue. Rejoice, a new tweet!

But it wasn’t any tweet. It was a 65daysofstatic (@65dos) tweet.

The tweet exclaimed the following:

KOBENHAVN! 65DOS play the BETA tonight. It holds 90 people. Be one of them! 2 pairs of guestlist to be won! First people to RT to get them!

With my adrenalin pumping and hands shaking I actually managed to get an RT out. Followed was a nerving wait until I got an email from Twitter stating @65dos were following me (starstruck) and that I had a DM that in turn said I got to put down two names. Extreme exhilaration.

Stating the obvious: you're doing it wrong.

Concert was awesome and pretty much all that one could expect from a band of such magnitude. Lot’s of new stuff, more party than ever, but also a few classics like Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!, Fix the Sky a Little and Radio Protector.

Yesterday (April 27), two bands was featured at Debaser in Malmö and as the result of a somewhat impulse buying of two tickets to the concert two months ago, I invited a friend to see this.

Gringo Star

Supporting act was Gringo Star, Atlanta, Georgia, a band which I had no prior engagements with and was totally new for me (as most supporting acts usually are…), but they really managed to positively surprise me.

Their most surprising feature was the frequent exchanging of instruments; the lead guitar could suddenly become the drummer in-between numbers and later jump to play keyboard or bass. All of the four members of the band were at some time singing.

Their sound was, as their name suggest, somewhat Beatles inspired, and is definitely best seen live as opposed to hearing their record (but buy that too, just in case!).

The main act was …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, an indie-noise-rock band from Austin, Texas.

Trail of Dead is really full of skilled musicians and the mix of songs in the concert were nothing short of great, having both new songs and “old” hits. Too bad the sound wasn’t up to boot. Either the vocalists’ microphone volume was too low or the instruments too high, everything seemed to mesh together into more noise than intended. Not My Bloody Valentine noise, but somewhere in the vicinity, at least. Vocals no lyrics.

The gig was great, the band was really going at it, and a lot more explosive than I expected. Really awesome.

I am currently, since approximately 1½weeks ago, freelancing my web development skills to an advertising bureau – which is sweeeet. I like having a boss (or in this case, two), it gets my production self going.

Tonight, I’m going to a concert featuring the band “Hello Saferide” who are a Swedish band playing indie pop. To be frank, I’m not _that_ in to indie pop, but when your die-hard death metal-loving friend confesses that he likes a genre that far off from his general field of musical taste and asks you if you want to go to a concert, there’s really no way refusing it.

Maybe I’ll post some pictures later tonight after the concert. Would be a nice change for once!
